What is the Lead Sports Co.?
The Lead Sports Co. was founded in 2017 by 3-time Olympian Kara Lynn Joyce. Since retiring from competitive swimming in 2012, Kara has pursued a career in coaching, speaking and mentorship. In addition to national engagements as an emcee, moderator, and speaker on Women in Sports and Women's Leadership, a common theme and passion throughout her athletic career and professional journey has been the mentorship and empowerment of young women.
2019 Lead Sports Summit, Atlanta, GA
Kara was inspired to create the Lead Sports Company to develop an environment and platform for female athletes to connect with strong female mentors at in-person events and through the Lead online academy.
The LEAD Sports Summit is a yearly summit that connects young female athletes with Olympic champions and experts through an all-inclusive, 4-day event. Girls learn from speakers and experts through both large keynotes and smaller breakout sessions. Throughout the weekend, girls also engage in hands-on leadership activities, group discussions, and reflection exercises.
Module 2 of the Confidence Course, Lead Academy
The LEAD Sports Academy provides an online suite of courses for building skills in Leadership and Confidence for teenage girl athletes. The Lead Team has spent more than a year developing these courses and online platform with the aim of serving a broad community of teenage athletes with the highest quality experience.

Our mission at LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment and Athletic Development) is to change the lives of young female athletes by teaching, empowering, and cultivating an environment for leadership and confidence through our yearly summit and online academy.
LEAD mentors strive to help attendees realize their goals and develop their strengths as students, athletes, daughters, and leaders. Attendees learn from a variety of accomplished women, from Division-III college athletes to Olympic Champions. We align with mentors and community leaders from diverse backgrounds in order to connect with and relate to every girl that attends a LEAD event or enrolls in a LEAD online course.
